MS health officials reporting 7 children in ICU due to Delta variant surge

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mississippi health officials took to social media Tuesday afternoon to warn people to not take the Delta surge lightly.

State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs reported that there are 7 children in the ICU due to the COVID-19 Delta variant. Two of those children are on life support.

MSDH reported 219 more cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi, 10 deaths, and 34 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

The state’s current COVID-19 totals are 325,072 cases, 7,451 deaths, and 1,000,991 persons fully vaccinated, according to MSDH.

Dr. Dobbs said most all the current COVID-19 are the Delta variant.
