New details emerge after man is shot and killed by mother’s boyfriend, records show

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after shooting and killing his girlfriend’s son.

Michael Robinson, 31, has been charged with first-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a firearm, court records show.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Randle Street about 2:30 a.m. Monday for a shooting.

A man was found lying in the driveway with a wound to his chest, unresponsive, an affidavit read. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Zaqune Harris by his mother, Consquala Harris.

She said her son and Robinson, her boyfriend, got into an argument that escalated to the suspect going to his car and grabbing a shotgun, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Robinson then shot the victim in the chest.

Robinson was arrested, waived his Miranda Rights and gave a statement that was captured by Body Camera of shooting the victim, the affidavit said.

Robinson plead guilty on May 5 to a previous charge of aggravated assault and was sentenced to 5-years probation, court records show.
