One dead after Tennessee boating crash during bass tournament, officials say

Douglas Lake, Tenn. — One person is dead and another is being treated for serious injuries after a boating crash during a fishing tournament Saturday morning, officials say.

The Tennessee Wildlife Agency said the accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Douglas Lake in East Tennessee.

According to the agency, the boats collided near the Anchor Down campground when at least one of the boats was fishing a bass tournament.

It’s unclear if the other boat was involved in the tournament as well.

However, it is confirmed that one person died from the collision and the other is being treated for serious injuries at UT hospital.

Two other people involved in the crash were uninjured, the Tennessee Wildlife Agency reported.
