People gather in Downtown Memphis to protest recent racial injustices

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A group of protesters gathered Thursday night in Downtown Memphis.

The protest comes one day after dozens of protesters filled Union Ave. Wednesday night speaking out against police brutality. Their minds were on George Floyd, who couldn’t breathe as a Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee into his neck Monday.

Memphis police arrested five people during Wednesday night’s protest on Union Ave. in Midtown.
