Photos show police caring for child abandoned at local Goodwill

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Authorities in Mississippi have not released the name of the 2-year-old boy who was abandoned Monday morning at a Goodwill donation outlet in Southaven, but new photos show an officer caring for the child.

The toddler is healthy, according to officials.

Rico Smith sent FOX13 the photos. It is not clear how long the child had been at the store before the photos were taken.

Shortly after police released information, thousands of people across the nation shared the boy’s photo to help learn any information about the boy.

A suspect was taken into custody in Memphis Monday. A Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a car that matched the description of a car seen at a gas station near the donation center.

As of 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Southaven police still have not released the name or charges of the suspect(s) involved.
