WYNNE, Ark. — A family told FOX13 they are afraid to sleep tonight after they say someone drove through their yard and yelled out a racial slur.

It happened early Monday morning off Canal Avenue close the Wynne, Ark. police station.

The family said they have no idea who would do this but believe someone targeted them because they are black.

They told FOX13 it is just another example that racism is very real.

On surveillance video you can hear someone possibly yelling a racial slur. The video then appears to show the person drive off in a white truck.

“For us to live in this small town, I’m very shook and shocked that we experienced something of that nature,” Asia Crawford said.

Crawford showed FOX13 another camera angle which she says shows the truck driving over the family’s front lawn. She said she was taking care of her sick child when all of this happened.

“For someone to pull through the yard and have no type of remorse at all you know,” Asia Crawford said.

A close look revealed the track marks from where the truck drove through the yard. Homeowner Shannon Crawford said luckily no one was hurt and no damage was down to his house.

“I’d like to ask him what made him want to do that,” Shannon Crawford said.

The family said they are upset that something like this could happen in the place they call home. They made a police report and hope the person responsible will be caught as soon as possible.

“Other than the fact that our skin color is not the same as someone else’s, that’s the only idea I can get it in my mind that someone would do this,” saidShannon Crawford,

FOX13 reached out to the Wynne Police Department who said they are looking into the incident.

The family said they want to meet with the person who did this so they can ask them why.
