UPDATE: Memphis police investigating possible domestic violence situation near airport; suspect fled

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police responded early Tuesday morning to a home in the airport area for a possible domestic violence situation.

A heavy police presence could be seen in the 5000 block of Horsnby Drive.

When FOX13 crews arrived just before 5 a.m., at least nine squad cars were at the scene.

A portion of the roadway was blocked off.

Neighbors told FOX13 police knocked on their doors early in the morning and told them to get out. They said they were told it was a barricade situation.

Police said a family member of a resident contacted them around 1 a.m.

Officers were concerned for the safety of residents inside the home but could not get anyone in the home to respond for four hours.

A woman finally came outside and police were able to get inside the home.

The suspect was no longer there at that time, police said.

No one was injured and no one is in custody.

Police said three small children aged 10 and under who were in the home are safe.

Police are determining appropriate charges in the incident.
