POLICE: Man arrested after 1 killed, 1 injured in Parkway Village shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An 18-year-old is charged with First Degree Murder after two people were shot in Parkway Village Saturday.

Officers responded to a shooting at 410 Lamar Ave. at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Two people were shot, police said. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

The suspect identified in connection to this shooting is 18-yr-old Jonathan Anguiano.

Anguiano was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Assault.

According to court documents, Zona Jefferson was leaving King’s Liquors when a man approached him with a gun and said, " Give me your damn keys and wallet.”

Jefferson told investigators he gave the man his wallet and keys, and the man shot him anyway.

After being shot, Jefferson ran to the back of the business.

Investigators said video from King’s Liquors showed clerk Ricky Grayson heard the shots and went to the store’s front door. Grayson had a gun in his hand and, from just inside the store, yelled at the suspect. The suspect shot at Grayson. He was hit and fell to the ground in front of the doors. Grayson could be seen on video returning fire at the suspect while lying on the ground.

According to the affidavit, while Grayson was on the ground, the suspect stood over him and shot him, then took his wallet and gun.

The suspect left the scene in Jefferson’s silver 2000 Ford Expedition.

A few hours later, police were called to the Walgreens parking lot in the 4600 block of Summer Avenue for a reckless driver, a possible DUI. A silver Ford Expedition was stopped at the rear of the business near the pharmacy drive-thru.

When officers ran the tags, they discovered it was the stolen vehicle from a homicide earlier in the day.

The driver was slumped over and bleeding from his knee.

He was taken into custody and later identified as Jonathan Anguiano.

When officers searched Anguiano they found two guns and personal effects belonging to Jefferson and Grayson in his pockets.
