Police searching for persons of interest in July homicide

Memphis Police are searching for people they believe are persons of interest in a July homicide.

On Thursday, July 29, Memphis police and fire responded to a shooting in the 1900 Block of Asa Drive to the Washington Apartments.

One man was outside at the apartments when he was approached by an unknown person(s) and shot, police said.

MFD pronounced the man dead at the scene.

According to a release, the victim’s car was stolen and later found abandoned in the back of the Valero gas station at 3400 block of S. Third Street.

The unknown person(s) were seen in the victim’s car, plus after abandoning the car, they were seen leaving in a blue sedan, police said.

According to officials, the victim was identified as Raymond Gaters.
