Police searching for suspects after car break-in during funeral service

MEMPHIS, TN — The Memphis Police department is investigating a burglary where a woman’s car was broken into during a funeral.

Police said it happened at the 2400 Block of Whitten Rd. at Forrest Hill East Funeral Home on Friday morning around 8:25 a.m.

The woman was at a family member’s funeral service when a suspect burglarized her SUV parked in the funeral home parking lot, police said.

MPD said the suspect took her purse containing cash, credit, and debit cards.

At 10:20 a.m., the suspect was dropped off at target while the driver who is also a suspect waited in the car, MPD said.

The suspect purchased $500 in gift cards using the victim’s stolen credit card, police said.

Police are now searching for both suspects and are asking for the public’s help.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
