MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A car crashed into a popular East Memphis restaurant, causing significant damage.
The car plowed into the Half Shell restaurant on S. Mendenhall late Tuesday night.

Owner Danny Summerall said he hoped to open the restaurant in time for lunch.
“I’ve got a lot of staff here,” he said. “If nothing, we’ll feed them all.”
No information has been released on what led to the crash or if anyone was injured.
The Half Shell opened in 1973 and has a second location in Southwind, which opened in 2003.
The restaurant has won numerous local awards for its seafood.
