Residents in Berclair-Highland Heights feel “abandoned” by MLGW on Day 5 without power

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Residents in the Berclair-Highland Heights neighborhood of Memphis said they feel as though they have been forgotten by MLGW after several trees and powerlines remain down across roads.

“For them just to abandon a live line down here … for what apparent reason? This is a hazardous situation that we’re in,” said Chris White, a homeowner.

MLGW stated on a zoom meeting the utility hopes to have all services restored by late Friday. As of Tuesday, approximately 40,000 homes were still without power.

“The (powerlines) are supposed to be top priority,” said White.

White said he was not happy with the customer service provided by MLGW.

“These people have been without lights for five days now,” he said.

MLGW stated customers without power who notice the utilities of homes around them restored should call the utility company at (901)544-6500.

“They keep saying it’s on the docket menu … I don’t understand the process. I don’t understand the delay,” said White.
