MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County School officials have announced senior graduation plans.

Dr. Joris Ray announced a three-tiered senior celebration that will take place in May, June and July.

Beginning on May 18, a new website will be launched to commemorate the class of 2020.

The site will have video messages, commemorative programs and graduation updates.

In June, there will be “Drive-thru Senior Salutes”.

The week of June 8, seniors will be able to pick up their diplomas and receive awards.

There will also be photo opportunities.

July will hold graduation ceremonies.

The dates are tentatively set for July 13- 26.

There will be a backup virtual plan if it is necessary.

In a statement, Ray said, “We are grateful for the patience and understanding of our families. One thing is for sure, Coronavirus will NOT defeat us. The Class of 2020 is SCS Senior Strong and we will forever be family. WE ARE 901!”

This policy does not apply to SCS Charter Schools. They will develop a policy of their own.
