MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up for the holidays and reminding residents of a service that is provided to keep your homes safe.
SCSO is offering vacation checks for residents who are traveling for the holidays, according to their twitter page.
Patrolling deputies will periodically check on residences that are placed on the vacation check list.

To be added to the list, call the SCSO Report Center at 901-222-5690. You can call that number anytime.
Homeowners must give the following information in order to be on the check list:
- Name
- Address
- Date you leave for vacation
- Date you return from vacation
- Local emergency contact number
- Any vehicles that will be left in your driveway
- Any lights that will be left on
- Any scheduled visitors
