SCHD announces pop-up COVID-19 vaccine site this weekend

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County Health Department is hosting a pop-up COVID-19 immunization clinic Nov. 21.

The event will take place at New Direction Christian Church, 6120 Winchester, from 1 to 6 p.m., according to a release from SCHD.

All three vaccines will be available (Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson).

Children aged 5 to 11 can receive vaccines on a walk-in basis at the event, the release said.

Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and proof of age is required (birth certificate or vaccination record).

Drive-thru vaccinations will be available for adults and children aged 12 and up, SCHD said.

Bring your CDC immunization card if you’re getting a second or booster dosage.

COVID-19 booster dosages are not yet available to children under the age of 18.

No appointments are needed, SCHD said.

A follow-up event for people who received initial doses during this weekend’s event is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 12 from 1 to 6 p.m.
