MAPCO employee killed in shooting at Memphis gas station, company confirms

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A MAPCO employee died after gunfire at the Memphis gas station, according to a statement from the company.

The shots rang out at a MAPCO in East Memphis at 5009 Park Ave. around 11 p.m. Tuesday night, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Police said one man was shot at the gas station and rushed to Regional One Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

FOX13 later learned from the victim’s family that he had died. The family identified the man as Kevin Sharp.

MAPCO confirmed Sharp’s employment in the following statement sent to FOX13.

“Our sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Kevin Sharp, who was a valued MAPCO team member. We are working with the Memphis Police Department to support their investigation and refer you to them for any further information.”

No suspect information has been released.
