Soulja Boy dropped from performance at FedExForum in wake of Young Dolph murder

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fans coming out to The Millennium Tour at the FedExForum on Sunday won’t see one key performer.

Tour promoter G-Squared Events said that Soulja Boy won’t be in attendance when the show comes to Memphis on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez, was set to take the stage at the FedExForum along with other top names in Hip-Hop such as Bow Wow, Omarion, Ashanti, Pretty Ricky, the Ying Yang Twins and others.

According to a press release from G-Squared Events, it was determined that Soulja Boy would not perform in St. Louis or Memphis in response to the murder of Young Dolph inside of Memphis bakery Makeda’s Cookies.

The release from the tour promoter read:

“To preserve the safety of The Millennium Tour 2021 artists and patrons, tour representatives are exercising caution and want to make a smart decision to be safe. The safety and welfare of our patrons are the first and foremost priority...We pride ourselves on bringing high-quality concert experiences to our patrons. In times like this, we will stop at nothing to ensure that everyone that participates in these experiences is health, safe and quite frankly having a good time.”

The tour promoter encouraged fans to contact their local venue with any other questions.
