Supply chain issues make it harder for Mid-South shoppers to stock up as winter weather approaches

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — If you’ve been to a grocery store lately, you’ve probably had a harder time finding some of your favorite items.

“Meat, meat for sure, bread, bread items, and produce for sure,” said Austin Lee.

“Shopping for my parents tonight, things like yogurt were sold out,” said Mollie Bussey.

Although there are some empty shelves and problems with restocking, shoppers said they still made sure to keep some of the essentials for when there’s snow in the forecast.

For Lee, he said it’s items that can last for a few days.

“Canned goods, things that can get put in a bag, things that won’t go bad so quickly and we can preserve and we can stretch.”

Mollie Bussey said her goal is to keep her pantry racked up and stay hydrated.

“Bottled water definitely, canned food, pastas and things like that that are easy to make and keep for a while,” she said.

It’s not too late for you to do the same and rack up if you need to.

Just beware that some dairy, meat, and produce may be scarce.
