Suspect faces murder, other charges after man gunned down in Hernando

HERNANDO, Miss. — A man is dead and another person is in police custody after gunfire rang out Monday night in Hernando, Mississippi, according to Hernando Police Chief Scott Worsham.

Worsham said the shooting stemmed from a fight on East Parkway Street near Riley Street.

Just after 5 p.m., police found 29-year-old Kordarius Kentrell Howard lying on the lawn with a gunshot wound.

The suspect, 22-year-old Ladarrion Markell Darden, ran from the scene, but police said officers found him quickly.

Early Tuesday morning, police released Darden’s mugshot, along with a list of charges he’s facing.

Charges include Murder; Tampering with Physical Evidence; Contempt of Court; and Possession, Sale, Transfer of Stolen Firearms.
