Second arrest made in shooting death of 7-year-old boy, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE: 7/10/2021

The Memphis Police Department have arrested a second person in connection to a shooting on July fourth that left a 7-year-old dead.

MPD said Adonis Wright, 26 is charged with Accessory After the Fact.

According to police Wright drove Jordan Pittman who was accused of shooting the 7-year-old to an undisclosed location in an attempt to hide him.

Police said Pittman knew Wright was wanted for the murder.

The investigation is ongoing.

The man accused of shooting and killing a 7-year-old boy has been arrested.

According to MPD, Jordan Pittman was taken into custody Friday night.

Pittman was arrested at the Highland Meadows apartment without incident.

FOX13 learned more about Pittman’s history early Friday evening.

According to MPD, Pittman was involved in a deadly shooting that happened in December 2019.

Memphis police said officers at the Old Allen Station responded to a shooting call on Fairbanks Road.

When they got to the scene, officers found Lou’Quavious Balfour,18, lying in the road with a gunshot wound.

MPD said Pittman, who was 17-years-old at the time of the shooting, was charged with first-degree murder. Pitman received a plea deal in this case.

FOX13 is working to learn more details on the plea deal.

Pittman has been a free man for about 5 to 6 months before the incident involving the murder of 7-year-old Kelby Shorty.

MPD said two other men are wanted for questioning in connection to Kelby Shorty’s death. They still haven’t been identified.
