TBI: Second man indicted, arrested in deadly 2019 Ripley shooting

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Tenn. — Antonio Gause was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force and booked into the Lauderdale County Jail Monday.

Gause was part of a robbery that led to the murder of William Black on April 21, 2019, according to investigators. Black was shot while visiting a home in the 100 block of Church Street in Ripley and died as a result of his injuries. Another visitor was critically wounded.

Terry Johnson was identified as the person responsible for the shootings. He turned himself into the Lauderdale County Jail the day after the shooting and is charged with second-degree murder and one count attempted second-degree murder.

After further investigation, it was determined that Gause was part of the robbery that led to Black’s murder.

He was indicted by the Lauderdale County Grand Jury on charges of First Degree Felony Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, and Accessory After the Fact.

His bond is set at $500,000.
