Webster’s Dictionary defines a mullet as a hairstyle short on the sides and top and long in the back. You know, business in the front and party in the back.

Celebrities like Billy Ray Cyrus, Dog the Bounty Hunter, and even Joan Jett made it popular years ago, but now a Tennessee boy says he’s got the best one.

His name is Archie Reed. After posting a video on Facebook his mom was immediately contacted by the USA Mullet Champs.

“I wasn’t a big fan of it at first,” Archie’s mom Faidrah Reed said. “His dad begged for it and I was like no and then here we are.”

And where they are is in a contest of best mullets. Little Archie is the youngest contestant and the only one from the Volunteer State. He was chosen from 120 other candidates.

The top prize is $500.

“We were actually celebrating his first birthday in February and at his birthday party he was like ‘let’s get him a mullet’ and everyone was like ‘Yeah Faidrah, do that!’ and I’m like ‘No! I’m not going to do that to him’ but he talked me into it,” she said.

Even if he doesn’t win the mullet championship contest, his mom says he’s already champ in her eyes.

“It’s not about the money though,” she said. “He’s always going to be a winner in our heart either way.”

In January 2020 Glamour Magazine published an article saying the mullet was making a major comeback. Either way, we’ll let you decide.
