Two Phillips County deputies fired over social media post

PHILLIPS COUNTY, Ark. — Questions are stirring in Phillips County after two sheriff’s deputies were relieved from their duties in Helena West-Helena, Ark. following reports of racial posts on social media.

It’s getting a lot of attention throughout the local community and law enforcement in the area.

Sources that wish to remain anonymous confirmed to FOX13 the deputies at the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office are no longer employed and have been fired by Sheriff Neal Byrd. Thet stated it stems from those racial posts on social media.

FOX13 found that both of those deputies, as of Wednesday, posted to social media that they are no longer working for the Sheriff’s Department.

We’ve placed calls to Sheriff Byrd and are waiting to hear back. We’re not releasing the names of the two deputies until we get more information from the sheriff’s office.
