United Way Call Center workers share what it’s like working from home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — United Way has officially launched its Driving the Dream Call Center. Workers are answering questions people have concerning resources like finding jobs, mortgage and rent assistance, and where mobile food pantries are located.

Karlescia Brookins helps answer those calls. Brookins told FOX13 questions vary by person.

“What type of mental health resources are out there related to COVID-19? What kind of food and nutrition services are available? Child care services for those essential workers? Questions have been all over.”

A lot of people are having to work from due to COVID-19 concerns, the Driving the Dream call center workers are not different.

“The adjustment has been not having our teammates so close by. We’re having to rely more so, on technology to answer questions,” said Brookins. People can call the call center at 1-888-709-0630. If you don’t want to ask your question over the phone or don’t want to wait in a call queue, you can go here to fill a form out.

Brookins said after your first initial call, workers will follow-up with to ensure you found the proper resource.
