HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. — Helena-West Helena and the Arkansas State Police Criminal Division are investigating a shooting that left multiple people shot Sunday night.

Officers responded just before 10:30 p.m. to a shooting in the 1200 block of Oakland St. at the Helena Barber and Beauty Shop.

According to the 911 call, multiple victims were shot in the parking lot of the business, police said.

All victims were transported to Helena Regional where a man was pronounced dead, the chief said.

The police identified the man who was killed as Markell Jetter.

Another man was airlifted to Regional One in Memphis in extremely critical condition.

There were two other victims, a man and a woman, who was treated and released. Also, two other woman were injured.

Witnesses at the scene said an event was held by the rapper Freddie Gladney Jr. AKA “Bankroll Freddie” when patrons were leaving the business and shots were fired into the crowd, police said.

Helena-West Helena Mayor Kevin Smith sent FOX13 is the following statement.

“We have worked hard to prevent this kind of gun violence and made a lot of progress, but sadly we still have a lot of work to do. Our sympathies are with the victims, and please, if anyone has any information please contact our police department.”

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division leads the homicide investigation.
