DeSoto County, Miss. — Vandals went to great extremes to spray paint foul images on a road in DeSoto County.
They spray-painted sexual images on Miller Rd. and Bethel Rd. outside of Olive Branch. But, this is no laughing matter.
As FOX13 found out, it took road crews hours and several trips to clean it up. Different people around the area said the punishment should be different for the graffiti on the roadway.
”No, I have never seen that one. But it’s original. I don’t think it’s the crime of the century.” One resident said.
For over a mile the perpetrators painted penises in the roadway. The graffiti images took up more than half the roadway in most cases.
We counted, not one... not two... but as many as 7 images on Bethel Rd. and Miller Rd. in Desoto County. Some of the penises even had lewd phrases painted on them.
FOX13 was there this morning as road crews arrived to clean up the mess. They went through several gallons of paint and even ran out at one point and had to got get more.
Mike Hall lives not far down the road.
”If they do it on my property, it’s not going to turn out good for them,” Hall said.
The images were painted on the roadway about every quarter of a mile.
One was painted near a preacher’s house. He didn’t want to go on camera but told me he’d pray for the perps.
”A 13 or 14 or 15-year-old kid, what they think is funny, maybe somebody who owns one of these homes doesn’t think is funny. We saw it in high school,” another neighbor said.
If caught the county tells me the perpetrators would face vandalism charges.
