West Collierville Middle School closed Thursday, Friday due to high number of flu-related absences

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. — A local school is closing its doors for the rest of the week due to the high number of flu cases.

Students and staff of West Collierville Middle School will not have classes on Thursday and Friday.

Cases of the flu and flu-like symptoms have increased over the past three days which ultimately led to the decision.

“This period of closure will provide some protection to students and staff from potential flu exposure, while also allowing our facilities services provider additional time to disinfect surfaces throughout the building,” Collierville Schools said in a release.
