WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A West Memphis elementary school honored graduates in a special way on the day that would’ve been their graduation ceremony.
Principal Kalisha Pitts told FOX13 this is not how she imagined how her kindergarteners and sixth graders would end the year.
“It was very frustrating.," Pitts said. "Actually on today they would have been having their sixth-grade graduation.”
On Thursday morning Pitts and a few teachers from Maddux Elementary decided to put yard signs with the pictures of their sixth-graders and kindergarten students in the front yard of the school.
“We wanted to show them how much we love them how much we appreciate them and all of their hard work they did this year,” Pitts said.
March 12 was the last time Pitts students’ sat in a classroom.
Since then her students have met with teachers and received instructions on many different platforms to make sure learning continued.
