MEMPHIS, Tenn. — FOX13′s Kirstin Garriss is climbing toward a cure for cancer, and you can help.
Kirstin’s Big Climb Fundraiser supports The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Kirstin’s father, Jim Garriss, battled cancer not once, but twice.
Jim beat the odds in 2000 after he was his own bone marrow donor for non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The cancer came back 14 years later as MDS, a form of blood cancer.
Jim eventually passed away from the rare disease.
Kirstin wrote: “So this is my WHY - I’m climbing for all the kids who may feel helpless watching their parents fight this disease. I climb to remember my Dad who put up a fight every single he was here with us. I climb so that one day we have a cure for MDS so no one else has to go through this pain again.”
Donations not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
