Police Chief Jimmy McCloud said the case is going before a grand jury where prosecutors will seek an indictment for assaulting an officer.

Tripp Pepper of Batesville just shook his head at the whole thing.

“Right right, well you gotta I guess, the first one to screw up and do something like that you gotta be made and example of for everyone else we will see,” Pepper said.

Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital.

She was not running a fever.

They said she later left the hospital against the advice of a doctor.

We’re told the officer has been taking his temperature and will return to work Thursday.

“Some folks ain’t got no sense,” Pepper said. “That’s the problem. They’re just trying to make the news of something. This is just plain foolish.”
