Tennessee lawmakers created a bill called “Makayla’s Law” to prevent child gun deaths.
The proposed law could penalize parents if a loaded gun is left accessible to a child.
The law is named after an 8-year-old girl that was shot and killed in White Pines after a little boy found his father’s gun. The boy is in jail, but his father is free.
“Makayla’s Law” would create a criminal penalty for parents, if a child gets a hold of their gun.
