The Houston Astros celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing before Monday night's major league baseball game at Minute Maid Park, and there were 11s everywhere.

Houston defeated the Oakland Athletics 11-1.

Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole won his 11th game of the season, striking out 11 batters, KTRK reported.

Meanwhile, Yordan Alvarez hit his 11th home run of the season, and Yuri Gurriel had three hits, including a home run, to extend his hitting streak to -- you guessed it -- 11 games.

There were even more 11s. The Astros scored their 11th run in the third inning when the team batted around, KTRK reported. Gurriel, who had two hits in the third, was the 11th batter of the inning when he drove in a run with a single to make it 11-0.

At that point, it was the Astros' 11th hit of the game, ESPN reported. Houston finished with 13 hits.

"I think it's very appropriate we scored 11 runs," manager AJ Hinch told reporters after the game. Hinch and his players wore a special cap that sported the logo from the Apollo 11 flight in 1969.

The celebration began early for the Astros, as the son of Neil Armstrong threw out the first pitch at Minute Maid Park, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Right-hander Rick Armstrong, 62, threw a strike to Astros outfielder Myles Straw, the newspaper reported.
