2 charged in fatal shooting at Memphis gas station

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are behind bars after a deadly shooting at a Memphis gas station.

The gunfire erupted at a Valero gas station at 4161 Winchester Rd. on Aug. 24.

Memphis police said they found an unresponsive man behind the wheel of a 2009 Nissan Altima.

A witness said a man driving an older vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla, drove up the victim’s car, got our, and started shooting into the driver’s side, according to an affidavit.

The man was shot several times, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

During the investigation, police identified Tamarki Sharkey, 47, and Lacy Sharkey, 52, as persons of interest.

According to the affidavit, an acquaintance told police Tamarki was driving the older model vehicle and Lacy was in the front passenger seat the day the victim was shot.

Video surveillance showed Tamarki driving the vehicle and pulling up beside the victim’s car.

The video showed the passenger get out of the vehicle and began shooting into the Nissan, police said.

Lacy is charged with First-Degree Murder.

Records show Tamarki is charged with Facilitation of First-Degree Murder.
