MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have arrested a 20-year-old man for the murder of two men during a shooting that happened last year.
On Nov. 29, 2020, MPD responded to a shooting in the 3400 block of W. Metropolitan Circle. at the River City Townhomes in Oakhaven.
Officers found multiple men with gunshot wounds, according to the affidavit.
Two men were rushed to Regional One in critical condition.
One man was found inside the residence and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the affidavit, the man’s death was ruled a homicide.
Another man was found outside the residence and pronounced dead at the scene, his death also ruled a homicide.
On Dec. 1, two men who survived the shooting told police that men came to the residence and pointed guns at them during a robbery.
Then the men started shooting.
According to the affidavit, one man pointed a gun and said, “Drop it off.”
During an investigation, police developed Kobe Westbrooks as a suspect.
One of the victims identified Westbrooks in a photo lineup. The victim said he saw the outline of a gun in Westbrooks’ hoodie.
On Feb. 4, police located Westbrooks and brought him in for questioning.
Westbrooks admitted to being present during the shooting, according to the affidavit.
He is charged with First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder and other crimes.
Police previously arrested another man, Cornelius Ward, for his role in the murders.
Ward is charged with First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery and Possession/Employment of Firearm During Dangerous Felony.
