Amtrak enhances cleaning procedures in light of coronavirus, official says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Amtrak announced it is taking extra health and safety measures to fight the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The passenger railroad company said it has enhanced cleaning protocols by increasing the frequency of cleaning on trains and at stations.

The company has also increased the number of sanitizers and disinfectant wipes available to customers and employees.

Roger Harris, chief marketing and revenue officer for Amtrak, said the safety of customers and employees is Amtrak’s top priority.

“We are closely monitoring the coronavirus and are taking action based on guidance from public health experts,” Harris said. “We will continue to respond to the latest with customer and employee safety top of mind.”
