Cordova High School teacher indicted on rape, sexual battery charges

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Cordova High School teacher has been indicted for allegedly having sexual contact with two students, according to a press release.

Mary Eddington, 47, was indicted by a grand jury on felony counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure and Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure.

Both students were seniors, according to the press release.

Both were 17 when the sexual activity began at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.

According to the indictment, Eddington had an ongoing sexual relationship with one student and groped the other’s genitals multiple times while providing tutoring in a classroom.

The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Lessie Rainey of the District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of rape, child sex abuse, severe physical abuse of child victims, elder abuse and vulnerable adult abuse.
