Deadline for P-EBT food assistance program is here

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Today is the deadline for families to apply for a food assistance program through the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

The Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer applications are open until 4:30 CST, according to a release from TDHS.

Parents can receive $5.70 in benefits per child for each day the child qualifies, according to the release.

The benefits can be used to purchase food at any store that accepts EBT, or online through Amazon and Walmart.

Families who already already receive TANF or SNAP benefits do not need to apply.

The program is for parents of kids who receive free or reduced-price meals at school.
