Southaven, Miss. — The 25th point hit the deck against Brandon High School (23-6 overall) and the DeSoto Central Lady Jaguars roared in triumph as they were named MHSAA 2020 Class 6A Volleyball State Champions.

After dropping the first set, the Lady Jaguars (30-5 overall) clawed back to win the next three sets, winning the fourth and final set 25-16.

Coach Margaret Falatko said losing the first set was actually a turning point for her squad because it calmed their nerves and helped them realize that Brandon couldn’t handle their offense.

It’s the first time in five years that the team has sank their teeth into a state championship, with their last title coming in 2015.
