MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Whether you grew up in Memphis or you just moved to the Bluff City, chances are you have heard of Graceland, home to the king of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.

Thursday, the gates reopened to guests for the first time in two months.

“Very special. I love Elvis, always have,” Stanla Schulps told FOX13.

While there is a lot of excitement surrounding the reopening, it’s going to be a different experience for guests. Each person will get their temperature checked upon walking through the gates. Sanitation stations have been placed throughout Graceland and social distancing signage and stickers are placed throughout to remind people to stay 6 feet apart.

Angie Marchese with Graceland told FOX13 that capacity size will be decreased.

“Usually, we get 2000 to 3000 people a day. Now, we’re only doing 25 percent of that,” she said.

That’s roughly 700 people a day.

Mansion tours are going to feel a little more personable. Only 10 people are allowed inside the mansion at a time.

While it’s a requirement for employees to wear masks, it is not required for guests, but it’s highly encouraged. There are special Graceland masks you can buy if you choose.

Guests are also encouraged to purchase tickets in advance and select the email option to lower how many items are being touched.

Things like iPads are being sanitized after every use and buses are being sanitized after every rotation of drop-offs at the mansion.

The iconic Memphis tourist attraction has reconfigured operations - tours, retail and restaurants - to meet or exceed social distancing, capacity and health and safety guidelines, according to a press release.

Mansion tours have been reduced to 25% capacity, allowing guests to walk through the home in more space.

The entertainment complex is over 200,000 square feet in size.

Restaurant capacities will be limited to 50 percent, and outdoor patio seating will not be available.
