SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — A Mid-South healthcare facility started doing drive-thru testing for the coronavirus.
It's the first drive-thru testing available in Shelby County.
The Women's Wealthcare Associates in Cordova off Highway 64.
"I really just want to show that we can test in this office,” said Andrenette Fleming, M.D., of Woman’s Healthcare Associates. “We can test in other offices because the community wants other options."
She's the brains behind all of this.
Fleming completed roughly 15 tests by herself.
"This is a first-time, first modulate,” she said. “Just wanted to work out the bugs without two or three of us in here kind of bumping heads."
David Orrico decided to come get tested after a recent trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
With his line of work, he didn't want to take any chances.
"I do in home sales and I’m concerned for any of the public that I see,” Orrico said. “I'm seeing five to six different homes a day."
The test is $60, cash, with your insurance company also receiving a bill.
The process is simple.
After you verify your information, Fleming does a simple a throat swab and then sends it off to LabCorp, who supplied her the testing kits.
“The main goal is to show the community that we can test safely,” Fleming said. “We can test safely. I mean I was here by myself and I took care of everyone. If I go back over it in my head, I didn’t make any mistakes.”
Fleming told us she has about 15 testing kits left and she has 15 appointments already scheduled for tomorrow.
We are working to find out when she plans to get more test in.
WHCA is located at 9005 US-64 #101, Arlington, TN 38002.
