Free COVID-19 testing takes place this weekend in Memphis

Memphis, Tenn. — The number of confirmed COVID19 cases is rising again as the country deals with another coronavirus surge heading into winter, and testing is key to stopping its spread.

Memphis is making it free and easy to do it with free testing events over the weekend.

The number of positive COVD-19 cases is growing, and the people who showed up Saturday at the Tiger Lane site at 450 Early Maxwell Blvd., getting free COVID-19 tests, knew it.

The testing will happen again Sunday at the Tiger Lane location and another, at Poplar Healthcare at 3495 Hacks Cross Rd.

Both locations will be open from 8:30 am. to 5:30 p.m.

And healthcare workers will be there to make it happen.

“You’re at risk, but you’re in risk of helping others,” said Barbara Beckton, one of the people testing people from their cars Saturday at the Tiger Lane location.

The city of Memphis will offer the testing each weekend through Dec. 20.

Health officials recommend testing every two weeks.
