MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a double murder that happened last weekend at a local apartment complex.
On Nov. 29, officers responded to a shooting in the 3400 block of W. Metropolitan Circle.
According to an affidavit, police found multiple men with gunshot wounds.
Two men were taken to Regional One in critical condition.
A man inside a residence was pronounced dead at the scene by Memphis Fire officials, according to the affidavit.
Another man found outside the residence was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Both deaths were ruled homicides by the medical examiner’s office, according to the affidavit.
Cornelius Ward arrived at Regional One in a private vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
Ward said he was at an apartment and was shot when someone began shooting.
The two victims who were also at Regional One said men came to their home and started shooting during a robbery, according to the affidavit.
Both men identified Ward as being present at the time and having a gun.
Ward was released from the hospital and taken to jail.
He has been charged with First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery and Possession/Employment of Firearm During Dangerous Felony.
