MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Fire officials found the body of a man inside a burning home Tuesday morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MFD.

His name and age have not been released.

The cause of death is pending the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Report, according to MFD.

The fire happened at a home in the 700 block of Baltic Street around 8:15 a.m.

Firefighters reported heavy visible smoke from the one-story home.

According to MFD, the fire was under control by 8:56 a.m.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital in stable condition after receiving burns to his hands and forehead.

Total damage to the home is estimated at $45,000, according to MFD.

The fire began in the den’s ceiling/attic area.

The cause of the fire is inconclusive, MFD said.

The cause is still under investigation.
