Man sentenced in Tipton County homicide, official says

TIPTON CO., Tenn. — A man has pled guilty to a Tipton County homicide, according to a Facebook post from Sheriff Chumley.

Robert Sydney Gene Brenner entered a plea Dec. 4 in the Circuit Court of Tipton County.

Brenner was sentenced to 10 years for Facilitation of Second Degree Murder.

According to the post, Brenner will have to serve at least 30 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

On June 17, 2017, Joseph Roman was found dead in his home.

Officials determined Roman was killed before the home was set on fire.

Brenner was arrested in Aug. 2019 and charged for his involvement in the crime.

According to the post, a co-defendant, Amber Whitehead, is currently serving 15 years for her role in the crime.
