SCSO: Man arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Memphis firefighter

Shelby County, Tenn. — UPDATE 2/14:

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Cedric Richardson, 22, in connection with the shooting death of Memphis firefighter Terrence Taylor.

Richardson is charged with several felonies including first-degree murder, murder in the perpetration of a felony, Criminal attempt especially aggravated robbery, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm

A Memphis firefighter is dead after a shooting at a Shelby County apartment complex, according to the Memphis Firefighter Association.

Terrance Taylor, a 16-year veteran of the Memphis Fire Department, died after a shooting at a Shelby County apartment complex Friday afternoon, the Memphis Firefighter Association confirmed.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting happened at the Miller Creek at Germantown Apartment Homes Friday around 2 p.m.

Taylor was pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived.

No suspect information has been made available at this time and SCSO said that this is an ongoing investigation.
