MEMPHIS, Tenn. — MLGW is offering extended payment plans through March 31.
Disconnections for non-payments are suspended until further notice, according to a release from MLGW.
The one-time extended payment plan allows eligible customers to repay their past due balance over a 12-month period.
Customers are required to pay at least 25 percent of their total debt up front in order to participate, according to the release.
The remaining balance is then set up on a payment plan for up to 12 months.
The plan was initially created in August to help customers affected by COVID-19.
MLGW President and CEO JT Young said the company understands the extreme circumstances facing customers and wants to help ease the burden.
MLGW customers are under a boil water advisory until further notice following last week’s severe winter weather.
Temperatures dropped below freezing for nine days straight across the Mid-South.
Customers should call the 24-hour emergency number, 901-528-4465, if they see water coming out of ground or homes and businesses.
A burst water pipe or water heater is considered an emergency situation if the leak is inside the home or business, and if it poses a danger of flooding to the building, according to the release. MLGW employees will immediately turn off the water supply in order to minimize damage.
