MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A new Shelby County health directive went into effect at midnight last night.

Health Directive No. 9 puts more limits on bars and restaurants, especially those on Beale Street.

Any restaurant whose food sales are 50% or less than their alcohol sales must close, regardless of their licensure by the Tennessee Alcohol Beverage Commission.

The directive is the latest step by the Shelby County Health Department to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the area.
