Panola Co. sheriff warning residents of scam caller trying to get money
PCSO said they will not call anybody to request money to take care of a warrant.

PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. — The Panola County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scammers.

The PCSO has received numerous calls about a person calling and pretending to be Lt. Brooks from the PCSO.

The caller claims the resident has a warrant out for failure to register as a sex offender, according to the PCSO.

The caller tells the resident to purchase a Green Dot card at Walmart and put money on it to take care of the warrant.

PCSO said they will not call anybody to request money to take care of a warrant.

PCSO takes care of warrants through either an arrest or an in-person court date.
