Scam caller claims Alcorn County residents have arrest warrants, requests money, police say

ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. — The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department has reported a person has been calling residents claiming to be a Lieutenant.

The person claims to be “Lieutenant Johnson” with the ACSD, according to a Facebook post.

The person claims residents have warrants for their arrest and is requesting residents buy a prepaid debit card.

Residents should not give any personal information if they receive a call like this.

According to the Facebook post you should hang up immediately.

The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office will never call and request money from anyone, according to the post.
