SCSO: Man charged with first degree murder in deadly double shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Detectives from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting that happened this weekend.

23-year-old Moasies Hardy was shot and killed Saturday night on Belmon Run Cove.

Another victim was shot and rushed to Regional One in critical condition, police said.

The victim told police he was recording a song in his home studio with Hardy, Jaylon Hatch, 22, and another man, according to an affidavit.

The victim told police that Hatch and the other man pulled out pistols and demanded money.

Hardy and his accomplice took the victims at gunpoint to a room with a safe and demanded the combination, according to the affidavit.

When the victims could not open the safe, both suspects shot them, according to the affidavit.

Detectives found Hatch at a hotel on Austin Peay Highway.

He was arrested without incident.

During a pat-down, police found a .45 Glock pistol with a fully loaded magazine on Hatch, according to the affidavit.

The gun was reported stolen on Sept. 24, 2020.

He was also in possession of a large bag of marijuana that tested positive for THC, according to the affidavit.

Hatch is charged with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of an Aggravated Robbery, Criminal Attempt First Degree Murder and other crimes.
